Kick Stand

Post by Kendarr »

Hello,

This is likely the dumbest thread to make, I did search and review the existing threads on here.

My kick stand is bent slight causing the bike to lean more then it would. The concern from my is that it will fail at some point and the bike will fall over. (like at a biker meet or something)

I would like to replace it, many exact replacements available on ebay but i also wonder if its going aftermarket and if so does anyone have any recommendations for one?

Picture in post below. the bike is on a paddock stand so straight.

Sorry if i made this in the wrong forum.

Thank you.

Honda Blackbird fits and is slighty longer. Some on here have fitted one, especially if the rear is raised with a spacer.
SO WHEN DOES THIS OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER KICK IN

That not bent much.

Take it off, a bit of heat & a long bar/scaff pole should sort it out...

Do you have a shock spacer in ? As Alan said it will make the bike lean over more.

BB stand fits, but the prong is really short so needs a mod, weld a longer prong on...

I agree with Mac.

if you have a spacer fitted under the shock, then get a longer blackbird stand, if you dont have a spacer, some heat and brute force on the standard one.

even as normal the Storm leans over a fair bit on the side stand, so with a spacer it look very precarious

Thanks for the replys.

I bought a new kick stand but can't seem to get the first bolt out on the base of the old stand at the moment, I've got some tools coming to see if I can shift it.

On the plate, the left hand bolt goes all the way through the frame. There is a nut on the other side.

However you don't have to take the plate off.

Undo the 8mm nut holding the switch on, take the switch off & there is another bolt head under that IIRC it's a 12mm head. Undo that & the stand can be removed from the plate.

I've rounded the new stands bolt off like a yard.

If I remove that bolt through the frame does it need any support as it looks really important?

You can take it out with no issues. There are 2 bolts holding the plates on and they also sit on dowel pins, so the plates will not move on you
