Ducati 950 SuperSport .... it this the modern day Storm?

Post by AMCQ46 »

given that Honda brought out the FireStorm to mimic the Ducati 916, I think life has gone full circle and Ducati have brought out the modern successor to the FireStorm with their 950 SuperSport.

Image

A tamed down sports bike with more comfortable ergonomics that you can ride every day.

Image

Ducati 950SuperSport:
110BHP @ 9000rpm
69lbft @ 7500rpm
184kg dry, (210kg wet)
16l tank

Honda FireStorm:
110BHP @ 9000rpm
71ftlb @ 7000rpm
192kg dry ,(209kg wet)
16l tank

and they both have an capital letTer in the midDle of their name :D

isnt it ironic, dont you think?

I can see what you are getting at Al regarding certain similarities, well spotted

It could be the modern day Storm, although I would prefer to stick with a Honda :D

Looks nice but needs a taller screen .
It’s about time Honda jumped on the band wagon and brought out a new VTR as they’re very capable road bikes (even in yellow) .

I guess its close in the definition of an "everyday usable" sports bike, but its , but needs to be a V twin to be a storm replacement. :D

perhaps the Aprillia RS660 is also closer in that definition

Storm wins on Maintenance, Ducati has Belts, shouldn't be too bad to do by the looks of it but need doing I think every 3 or 5 years now ?. Desmo valves not so easy for the home mechanic (I've never done them) but on top of that it seems you can't reset the Service light, so Ducati want to insist you go to them and pay extortionate service prices (and they really are high at Ducati dealers). That alone puts me off any of the Latest Ducati's.

Same on my Tuono, service light can only be reset at a dealer. I'm still not letting a dealer put spanners on my bike, so I'll do my own servicing and have them just reset the light. Or just leave it on red flashing spanner🤔
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Thanks, but that fix doesn't apply to the 18 onwards colour dash ones like mine.

From the '17 model onwards. However, it's a very small and discrete icon. Easy to ignore.

Give me the Storm any day!

I like working on my bikes, I like the ownership experience and £14,000.00 would buy roughly 8 decent Storms
