machining front discs centres !!!!! :(

Post by firestarter1977 »

hi all.

well i have hit a big snag whilst fitting the new 6 spoke wheels... its taken me forever to get around to doing them then today i found that the stock storm front discs wont fit the - iirc vfr800i 98 front wheel... i was under the assumption that they were a direct replacement ?

i dont want to fork out 250 quid for a set of discs ( just dont have the cash ) so looking at the actual hole centres i think they will bolt on fine, it just needs about 4mm taking off the ID of the centre hole.....

my question is would it be safe to have it machined out as the material from the bolt centre to the edge of the centre hole will be the same if i bought the correct discs / have the storm ones machined.

any help will be appreciated.

regards mark

Firestarter......surley its cheaper to get the VFR400 front wheel (or poss early CBR600) than buy discs? Ive seen wheels on the bay from about £30 upwards depending on condition and everything else you have fits :D

Have this job on my cards too. Love the look! :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin

94-97 VFR750 wheel fits, as does the one from a CBR600F3 (direct bolt-on)...
