XL1000 Varadero Clutch Conversion

Post by bazza696 »

I am looking to fit a clutch cable from a Varadero to my firestorm, so I would start the thread so you all have it for reference. I will constantly post additions up as I do it, but has been delayed because of the extra expense of buying the below items.

So far I have purchased the following :
a clutch lever with its bracket
sprocket cover

yet to purchase as you will need these but will have to be original parts:
clutch mounting bracket(that fits the LH engine casing) - £20
clutch lifter rod, as this is different from the VTR - £20
clutch - any brand - £8

I have been talking to Terry @ Everestmotorcycles, we met at the thunderbikes at Brands Hatch, he says that the bottom bolt does not line up so you will loose one fixing, but does not see it as a problem, also he cut away the cover to expose the drive sprocket, not sure if this was so they can change the sprockets easier or this is something you have to do, I will find out in due course when I start playing.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
