seat doesn't fit properly?

Post by agentpineapple »

having just put a second hand rear fairing/rear subframe and seat (part number mbb0971704). the seat doesn't seem to fit correctly, am i right in thinking there was only ever one design of seat which carried through every model of firestorm?
there is a gap between the seat and fairing which wasn't there before i had my accident and had to replace the rear end of the bike, i've seen this gap before in pictures of other bikes and it looks crap imho...........
has anyone got any ideas as to what has happened.

Marty, if you're referring to the gap around the back half of the seat then I'd say that's normal. Could it be you didn't see it before as you used to have the pillion part of the seat cover/hump fitted :?:

I'm sure the seats are the same for all models.

perhaps your right guys, but this morning looking on ebay i noticed a seat with a different part number, i was wondering if anyone could post there part number to see if it matches mine, because the gap is as you guys say but the seat doesn't seem to fit in the loops if you get my drift and i've bent the loops to try and make it fit, i'm also weary that a cbr600f had a very similar seat unit.....hmmmm

Seat: part no. 77200-MBB-D60 £380.31 :eek2 is used on all years 97–05 for the storm and doesn't fit any other Honda.

I had to buy a new (second hand) to me seat for mine and noticed the same. The seat came of a year earlier bike and thought it was just a case of wrong size seat. But once the seat cowl was on it was hardly noticable. Seems to be the way its made. A few others I have seen are the same.

Why you no ask? :whatever
I have a spare seat which I'll bring over with your braced swingarm.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
