Yeah, I did think abt oil filler caps as a possible, but...
1: they are nearly all ally, so would be just as soft as the original
2: non of the ones i have seen are big enough (needs to be M30!)
3; I wanted to try & keep the OE look
Like I said, will keep at it untill i get an answer!

Just notice they are Yamaha oil caps. Will they fit out bikes?
I would love to put a dipstick in the storm pity its not possible.
Nearly dropped the bugger the other day checking the oil, wouldn't be so bad if You could see the window but You have to virtually lie down to see it properly.

I do lie down, have to give the window a good polish as well. With a lower fairing it's even worse. I need to cut a peep hole in mine to see it now as the fairing covers it. doh

Ah, should have explained. Don't use the dipstick ones, as fitted instead of the oil filler cap they will just hit the clutch. Not cool at all. What I had in mind was to cut the dipstick off; just use the head instead of the large inspection cap.

Any cap will fit if it has the correct thread- check these before fitting.
I believe the Storm one is M30, but haven't looked up pitch.
Prob 1.5 or 2mm.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Hi Tony, the cap is M30 x 1.5mm thread.
The problem is, this size seems almost impossible to find "off the shelf". I Don't think there are any oil filler caps in this size, they are more like M25 or something similar.
As I said, I am trying to keep it looking as stock as possible, & also stainless rather than ally. If someone else can find a suitable replacement then that's fine, but I've spent best part of a week trawling the web with not much success :confused

I know the feeling, I have spent a build of of more than a week. Nothing to be found, I am shocked that no 3rd parties make stainless bits for either the oil cap or generator cover bolts or even billet caps for the suspension. 8O there's enough people making pre load adjusters and brake/clutch caps!

Little bits of bling these companies have missed. Mmmm

Honda C50/70/90 tappet cover cap uses this thread size.
Also this:

How about this?

Here's a list of the other Honda products that use the same cap:

Thankyou tony, it's good to get another perspective on the problem.

Mr Tony Mon,

I was having a spare hour at work and knocked these up... did you want me to drop a set to you so you can try them and give me your views/opinions?

Why ask... sometime you just go to do it and find out?

Sorry, forgot to add they are both made from titanium and NOT stainless, I know they are not what you are after in this link but wanted you to know that before you get them and get disappointed.. :(
