carbon fibre wrap

Post by boz »

A few weeks ago I attempted to carbon fibre wrap my seat cowl and belly pan. It was a disaster. Mrs Boz is really good at this sh1t and she couldn't do it. We researched several goods methods, tried them all.
Anyway, I think that the wrap I bought was just rubbish.
There is so much out there so can anyone recommend a good quality wrap which lends itself to tricky angles (on the belly pan), is pliable and easy to ease the old creases/bubble out of.
Thanks

hi boz
i ended up using this stuff...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3D-BLACK-BUBB ... 3a6d6c7248
its a lot better than the first stuff i used, i found using a hairdrier to heat it up useful to help go around curves. some things are almost impossible....
practice helps as well.......it can be very frustrating indeed, always try to start in the middle and work your way outwards, always make sure you have plenty enough to cover the item your wrapping, theres nothing more frustrating than doing a great job and finding out the vinyl doesn't cover it all.
as for bubbles, sometimes your better off leaving them and pricking them with a pin, you will hardly notice it afterwards...
keep at it bozzer

BSM is the Carbon king.
For the top quality, Rolls Royce of carbon wrap, but obviousely more money. Then there's 3M http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=3 ... m270.l1313 I think they may have desingen/invented it as well.
Never tried Carbon Wrapping myself but done a lot of research on it when looking into getting a complete bike wrapped. It's definitely a skill that needs to be learnt, and practise makes perfect. You may do a better job after a few drams, have you tried that.

Here you go http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Whiskey-1970s ... 4165c3d0a4
and I can highly recommend Glenfarclas 105

And it goes down faster, too, being yellow.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
