cct help

Post by vtrbaz »

dare I say it ccts lol . Had my storm about 4 years now so think I better get them changed lol 1st off does anyone know a good place to get the parts from please?
next thing is are there any mechanics in the midlands area that could do it for me ?? im in Redditch just south of Birmingham if so how much would you charge .

to be honest im thinking about selling and getting a much newer storm as mine is getting on a bit now 1996 might get a 2002-03 ish or maybe a sp1
think I would still rather have ccts done so I can sell it on happy that its not going to let someone down
thanks for any help

Krieger, APE and Bazza CCT's > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 16&t=22720

For general Honda parts try http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk

Good idea to do some preventative maintenance, have you upgraded the R/R from the OEM unfinned version? - Doubt its a 1996 VTR as they first came out in 1997

Regulator/rectifier.
It's the matchbox-sized unit under the RH side of the tail plastics.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Check your bike's VIN code - as an example JH2SC36A4VM8****** which is on the frame near the headstock and on your vehicle reg. doc.

JH2: country of production (JH2=WMI Honda Japan, 1HF=Honda America, ZDC=Honda Italy, VTM=Montesa/Honda Spain)
SC36: type = VTR1000F)
A or B: early or late version
4: control number (1-9 or X)
T: year (T=1996, V=1997, W=1998, X=1999, Y=2000, 1=2001 ... 6=2006)
M: factory (M=Hamamatsu/Japan, K=Kumamoto/Japan, A=Ohio/USA, F=Atessa/Italy, E=Barcelona/Spain
000992: serial number

R/R = Regulator/Rectifier, and If it looks like this bin it quick...

Good news if it's been done, post a pic so we can confirm - and make sure the front cylinder CCT has been upgraded as sometimes the rear with easier access is soley done, when it's the front cylinder which is more prone to failure.
