Chain Tensioners

Hello All
This is my first post in any forum let alone this one so please forgive any newbey mistakes
I have recently acquired a P reg Firstorm and have noticed i fairly loud ticking noise coming from the rear cylinder and being as there is a lot of talk about the CCT's on this site was wondering if there is any advice on changing them as they are the standard Honda type.

regarding the CCT, look in the workshop knowledgebase section and all will be revealed.

It's usually the front tensioner that fails so if yours is the rear it may be that your pancaking a bit after reading bits.

Replaced my CCT's a week ago.
There's a GREAT manual for it here: Manual Cam Chain Tensioner Installation Guide (MCCT's) (it's the same process as the automatic OEM stuff.. Took about 3-4h in total to swap everything. Be CAREFUL when tightening any exterior bolts putting things back together, i broke a bolt to the crankcase cover without any applied force what so ever.. They're just mean to hold things in place not to actually tighten things up)


And yes, definitely change the CCT's BEFORE any real damage is done.
You're probably lucky enough so that the camshafts haven't jumped any teeth minimizing the damage done.

Yep, that's Bazza696. He does an exchange service, you buy some and send the old ones back after fitting.
They're a lot better than other manuals, in my opinion, because the front one pokes up over the radiator hose and is easy to get at to set up and adjust.
I fitted a pair of Ade Whitmarsh's to a member's bike last week, and they were a right pain. Plus Ade uses 15mm dome nuts and lock nuts- most spanner sets don't include 15mm AF....
Bazza's are better, and cheaper.
