High comp pistons being fitted this weekend

Post by tony.mon »

So if anyone wants to pop by and see the process, I'm spending the BH weekend fitting high comp pistons to my engine, starting tomorrow early.
It'll have to be done in three days flat, as I need the bike to get to work on Tuesday.
Car's off being repaired after an idiot didn't notice me and pulled across two lanes.

So I'd best get an early night and get started first thing.

In Sevenoaks, Kent, if you haven't been round before.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

He could always use the Chinese Scooter  Bit of a pain for you you getting to work Tony. It's not as if public transport is simple or direct.

I'm supposed to be woodstaining a shed down in Guildford. Anyway the only bit I would be interested in seeing is your starting procedure, the first push of the switch and sealing your rings in. What's your running in procedure/technique.

Probably aiming it at the nearest puddle to get all the new bits dirty, to match the rest of his bike...

yea take lots of pictures. are you doing the method that doesnt require splitting the cases? STD bore or OS?

im about to put another set of JE's into the new track VTR in a week or 2. i was gonna just put the already higher compression motor into the track VTR but i figured, hey why not just have higher compression motors in both bikes ehh?

All going well.
Stripped, no issues, well, snapped mounting on the coolant overflow bottle, but i have spares...
Bike's having a little lie down to recover, while I go in from underneath.

Byebye, pistons...in you go.

The bin in the background is a parts bin, and that's still allowed, I hope?

And yes, you can just about get to all four on the big end bolts without taking the oil pump off, but's it's a bugger, that last one...it's hard to ensure that it's properly torqued.
Just to make sure I ordered five big end bolts, in case one gets rounded off.
I think next time I'll pull the clutch and oil pump off anyway, but wanted to see if Scobey was right

Fixed it for you.

Now go and get a blanket and pillow for your bike. She'll get cold overnight. Say bye to the shinyness on the pistons. You do realise that threads like this really tease me onto wanting some hi comps even more so.
