Speedo at night

Speedo at night

Is it just me that has a problem reading the speedo at night.
Its like the figures go fuzzy.
I dont have a problem during the day. I suppose it could be the orange colour given off by the bulb.
Is there a way of changing the background colour, or am I stuck with it.

I believe it is possible to use coloured LED lights to change the instrument panel colours. Here's a link where some work was done on a VFR800 panel, could be of interest to you.

Theres an instrument LED mod you can buy off ebay, might be worth a look

Red light is the best to use as it don't kill your night sight. There is a reason the Military use red lights during night op's. But seeing how the street lamps around here are not Red I not sure it will make much difference :lol:

If not that's why it's hard to read .

All bulbs are working.
Its the figures on the speedo, they look fuzzy, to the point I cant read them. The tacho if fine.

Are the clockfaces clear or have they got microscratches / crackled with age. Same for your visor. Also consider having a checkup with opticians.

It may be the clear plastic on the outer casing to the instrument panel is not so clear any more. They do get Sun damaged.

No scratches on clocks or visor as its new.
I do need glasses to read, but not go drive. Its possible that the distance of eye to clock is right in the zone between the two.
Also at night the pupils can dilate and when they do its effectively lowering the f stop, which effects depth of field.
Have I just answered my own question?
