Where on "earth" is the 30amp fuse located??

Post by rippedfromhell »

Hello there,
I bought another storm 6 months ago, its been running great but I iv blown the 30amp fuse for the starter solenoid. Seems to be a very different wiring setup to my last storm and i can't locate the dam fuse :confused
I was hoping you fine folks can give me some tips to where it might be hiding.
I have attached some pictures here:

It's on the starter relay under the red cover/plug

Yeah, thats where it was on my old storm but I am not seeing any 'red cover/plug'. The only red i see there is on the cover of the positive battery terminal, which is of course not it.

The relay is sited under the tail plastics on the lh side.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Look on the outside of the sub frame where the colour code sticker and the seat hook is located - immediatly above by a couple of foot from the passender footpeg.

Your pic...

As per Wickys post. You have to take the seat plastics off. Unclip the red cover & there is the fuse...There is normally a spare under there as well.

Mostly it's connecting a jump start battery the wrong way round, that will blow it no trouble.
Or a jammed starter motor, sprag clutch or transfer gear problem.
That overloads the circuit.
They normally don't just blow on their own.

Last time, many moons ago, I poked around the main fuse was post cricket match / pub in the rain when the bike 'died'. Found out eventually after much fun and joy, and replacing the fuse, it was a loose terminal connection on the battery from a loose bolt due to vibration and slack spanner work...

Thanks very much chaps, I got the little bugger:

I was fitting a new battery when a precariously placed spanner dropped and hit both terminals causing a short. Out tomorrow to get a new one.

Heres hoping the fuse blew before it damaged anything else.
