On the topic of dirty pistons...can these be refurbished or do they need to be replaced?

Say for example they had some light pitting or a build up of gunk on them - can these be very lightly sanded and then polished off?

As long as the pitting isn't too deep - yes some fine wet&dry and polish but if heavily pitted then like pitted forks seals will have a problem making an effective seal.

Wall J has been & gone leaving a trail of distruction in his wake, hasn't come back yet with bits of broken fairing in his mitts so the brakes must work OK.
Just want to say thanks to Mac for his help and expertise. He put up with me for a few hours, even though my size tens damaged his wooden floor!!

You're a good man, Mac!!
