Timing marks not aligning

Post by Chris58 »

Anyone know what's going on here? I have the flywheel on the FT mark and I cannot get the marks on the front cams to line up with the heads.
If I move them one tooth they are facing slightly down if I move them one the other way they are slightly up.

I think maybe a attached chain. I also had .002 thou off the block.. not enough to change anything.

What do you guys think?

Just set it to the nearest one.
It makes very little difference.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Thanks Tony, I didn't think it'd make much difference. Is that common to see?

Same on my 70,000km bike. I put the difference down to chain stretch.

There s another mark a little before the real FT mark on the flywheel, make sure you're on the correct one, it may line up then. If you do have it right then what the others have said

Thanks guys, I defiantly had the flywheel lined up right. Must just be streched chains. All put together now.

I worried over that timing mark issue for the longest time. I set and reset them with the same results as you.
