Anyone fitted longer throttle cables

Post by Flatline »

Having fitted higher bars, I would now like to fit slightly longer throttle cables, about 20-30mm

Has anyone done this?

Had some made up or used a set from another model bike?

Someone asked this on the facebook group a while back. I posted the following in reply:

CBR600F4 cable is 75 cm (inner) vs the Storm's 67 cm. Other years of CBR600 seem to be a similar length, some a little shorter than the F4 by a cm or two. 17910-MBW-D20.

If you wanted much longer, the 1990s ST1100 one is 102 cm. Part no 17910-MT3-000.

Thanks for that, I've just updated the question as I'm only looking for about 20 - 30mm

It's good info though :plainsmile

I put vfr ones on a year or two back, just never got round to fitting longer cables. They're ok as they are, just a tad short on full lock, so it's rarely noticeable

You still routing them round the front of the forks ? Try changing to run behind the fork...

Flatty, take the return cable off and route the cable outside the fork leg so it is between the outer fork surface and the fairing.

I will post a photo when I get home

I fitted early blade cables on Lloydies recommendation and they seem fine on my fighter
