Got the buggers out

Post by BrianC »

Ive been working on a front head for a while

Its got 4 bent valves which i have removed but the real challenge has been trying to get the chewed up exhaust studs out.

They were so chewed i couldn't get a stud extractor on them. So i went through a number of cycles of heatng up the alloy around them using mapp gas, then spraying with plusgas or then using freeze spray to try and crack the corrosion.
I cant remember how many cycles of this i had to do, but i then gripped a stud in my bench vise and turned the head, and eventually got a smigin of movement.
Once i had that it was just a matter of time and both are now out!!!!

Patience is a virtue !!!!
