FIRE fire Oo yeh, me like a good fire :biggrin  what do you mean hard to put out? it's only a fire. Fuel, Heat, and Oxygen. Take any one of them away and the fire's out.

Oh, this gets better by the minute.

Cheers Steve That puts my mind at rest. Been searching the netm came up with this:
Cutting titanium: use 32T per/inch blade (very fine toothed blade) and slow speeds w/cutting oil.
make sure you have great cutting oil, heat destroys bits, black oxide are usually the best, slow your bit speed down, dont use alot of pressure, and make sure you have cutting oil...
I've cut through titanium cans alot with a good high speed angle grinder and disc. It makes some terrific sparks and colors, but seems to work well for me. (no cutting oil)
Last one sounds like fun :biggrin

Used 5 cutting discs with my grinder cutting my can down, it made some mega white sparks tho!!! 8)

First discs pretty much disintegrated as I was cutting the can, it took some time to do the rest of it lol

Cool, from what I have read it's heat that's the problem with cutting it alongside many myths. So as I don't have a Dremmel, I'm gonna start with hacksaw blades. If that proves too hard I shall give the metal cutting discs on angle grinder a go. Might just have a go with that anyway just for fun  I shall have to try and angle grind at slow speeds ideally, but my angle grinder is a straight on off switch, Doh. I will just have to watch the temp and grind a bit at a time allowing it to cool as it gets hot.

Just waiting for my mandrel bend to turn up in post, then I can measure up and cut away

Thanks for your input guys.

FINALLY DONE
Well after all that fuss about cutting Titanium, I went through it like cheese with the metal disc on my angle grinder. It does give off some nice Catherine wheel style sparks

90 degree (Mandrel) bend turned up and slides inside both ends, Arata pipe and downpipe. It's slightly too small but not much of a problem, just needed to use a lot of exhaust assembly paste. I ended up angle grinding 4 splits in the outer ends to give some play when tightening the clamps. Everything clamps up nice and tight. I have also managed to fit some P Clips on the lower mounting points.

Well on initial start up there was a few bits blowing so slapped some exhaust paste around the clamp areas and everything is sealed up nicely. Does look a bit messy on the outside though, so might in the future wrap some exhaust wrap around it all just to make it look more tidy.

As far as the sound of these cans goes, well it puts a grin on my face and sets off the neighbours car alarm  That's without the baffles. I have not tried the baffles properly yet, just held them in place to see how much it reduced the decibels. It's does not quieten done much but changes the whole note/sound of things. I will most probably just keep them for MOT purposes but that will be it. :biggrin

I love these new can's. Both me and the bike get on very well with them.

This was recorded on a Sony Z1 Camcorder in HD using a Sennheiser ME64 Microphone. It is as accurate as possible but does reflect what is sounds like for real. It sounds better for real

Thanks for all your help folks.

Have Fun

I know  Long enough I'd say. Not measured them but as you can see they stick out just beyond the number plate. I was looking through the Arata site and apparently they have the option of shorter ones. Don't know how short though. I got to say I do like them and IMO they suit the bike. Could do with being a couple of inches shorter maybe.
But more importantly they sound wombles ace and the bike performs and runs better. Shall have to see what happens to my fuel now! It might just be my imagination, but the weird thing though, is my forks/front end feels different. Seems lighter and has a bit more wobble and vibration. Could changing the cans affect the way the front end feels? :confused

I will have to go and find myself a multi story car park now, preferably an underground one.

Cheer guys
