front caliper upgrades
Just wondering whats out there to upgrade to as direct fit?
Cheers

Bikes ftw!
Also GSXR 1000 6 pot Tockicos from K1 & K2 fit straight on.
I have these on mine mated to an SP1 19mm master cylinder and with fresh pads in its like one finger stoppies.
Vastly improved, though the original Storm brakes are pretty decent (but not in R1, Fireblade, GSXR, ZX10 league)

Voted most likely to be found dead in park bushes following an act of autoerotic asphyxiation.
I was going down this route for my VTR track bike. I got a SP1 MC, which made the lever feel wooden, with little movement. Brakes were better though... now I've matched the MC to the SP1 calipers - I think it's important to match the ratios beween the MC and calipers. I've recently got some new pads (Brembo race pads) and new performance spec fluid.
I got my calipers from Jonesy, a very nice guy.
Before I got lucky and spoke to Jonesy, I did some research on the Tockios. The K1/K2 GSXR originally had 6 pots and when reviewed the brakes they were highlighted as poor. Suzuki then changed to 4pots (for the K31000 (and the 750)) as the heat build up in the 6 pots were too great and poor performance the result. If you go to a GSXR forum they are changing the 6 pots to the 4pots as per the newer 7501000 (after a single posting, I was offered two 6 pots fronts for sale!). Mind you, there is also a lot of banter about how much better the nissan on the Honda's are.
I'm sure Jonesy will sort you out some crackers, he'll even modify the SP1s to fit too... IMHO, this is the way to go.. (plus some proper pads). Good luck.

Cheers,
Chris.
The only thing i would add regarding the 6 pots is that with those there is so much braking power, that unless you've had your forks modified to suit them, your front suspension could become overwhelmed under harder braking.
Don't know if this helps at all?

Cheers,
Chris.
I'm not trying to be controversial or even slagging off the 6 pots.
And I'm give credit to Jonesy, not because he has a Welsh name (are you Welsh Chris?) and now lives in Essex (no jokes about Gavin and Stacey, although if they are funny bring them on), simply because he's a gent and sorted me out with some super calipers and advice (I got them way cheaper from Jonesy than I could have on ebay).
I'm hoping to go to Brands on the 14th Feb so if I think the new brakes are better I'll post. I bet you won't sleep until that day, eh?
