I have been lazy over the Christmas period & its too cold to be out working/riding on the bike.
But not too cold to be sitting in front of the computer conjuring up simple mods
Has any one looked into the possibility an easy
flywheel swap available instead of machining the original?
I have been looking into it for a while & think I might of narrowed it down to a couple, I know its doubtful it will work but there is no harm in dreaming, as always comments welcome
After having both the Varadero & VTR flywheels together I started thinking what else shares the same dimensions, so I started to cross reference bits, like the clutch sprag bearing, what else uses the same part number? Then the size of the Vara/VTR generator in mm & will it fit inside the (alternate)
flywheel? Then the size of the
flywheel puller, 22mm (to give an idea of crank diameter), and shares the same size woodruff key?
So, what Bike engine requires a 22mm puller to remove a
flywheel that fits over a Vara/VTR generator coil which also mounts a Vara/VTR sprag clutch so you can mount the starting gear & uses a 25x14 woodruff key
Transalp 650
I don't know if the
flywheel taper is the same as the Vara/VTR, or if it is how far the
flywheel mates up the taper.
This is most likely a waste of time & energy but nothing ventured nothing gained.
I also looked at the CBR929 (same sprag, generator would fit & woodruff) but think the crank diameter is smaller.
Any one looked into the SP1?
Happy new year BTW.
