They are quoting a 3 horse increase for 1000cc bikes on here.
That's a considerable amount just for changing the plugs. 8O

Compared to the knackered old ones they took out, maybe.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

That was exactly my point mentioning the stick coils earlier. I think there will be a benefit with these plugs as it will give a good spark. But whether the increase in price is beneficial it is another thing altogether. Two Iridium's is the price of one of them. :eek2

So the reason they are so expensive is that they came from a supernova. Alien technology :biggrin

Actually Gold is a very good conductor and doesn't rust. Hence the reason that high end audio cables are Gold plated.

We all do Carl. Gold is expensive not due to its origin but its chemical properties and looks lovely  I can highly recommend a book called The Magic Furnace, all about stars and the nuclear processes. Only small and v readable

Be interesting to hear Tony's feedback on the Brisk ones.

Tony I have just been trawling the net trying to find more info on the Brisk plugs. The general consensus is that they protrude further into the cylinder and one has to be careful which ones they fit. In other words make sure they are designed particularly for one bike.

Here's one quote I found.
Brisk plug by design protrudes further into the cylinder so if you chance yer luck rather than doing some homework and create a gap of less than 3mm from plug end to piston you will get an arc over to the piston which causes the burn
Just something you should be aware of with the high comps as you have less clearance. Have you compared them side by side to the NGK's?

There's even a warning on the bottom of the Brisk catalogue on one site.
* spark plug firing tip configuration projects into the combustion chamber for better air/fuel access and ignition.
ALWAYS CHECK FOR SUFFICIENT PISTON CLEARANCE to avoid possible spark plug and/or engine damage.

Yeah, they're not much longer but I'll check clearance before fitting.

It won't run well if it's arcing to the piston crown though, ignition timing will be well out.
Actually, thinking about it, there shouldn't be a trigger happening while the piston is at tdc anway. The spark happens when the piston is still approaching tdc, and if the piston is close enough to arc across then it'll be punching through the head very shortly.....
