Damn creaking noise...

Post by Beast »

Right peeps its buggin' me.
Have had a slight creaking noise somewhere on the bike for a while now.
Nope its not me. :)
Have checked swinarm and shock linkages and all are fine.
Checked engine mounts, basically everything but all is tight and as should be.
Seems to make the creaking noise when going over certain bumps but when the roads wet nothing happens! :)
So sounds like its something underneath and when the wet spray hits the damn creaking stops!
Mostly happens when 2up, so im thinking the shock?
But all looks fine and when im on it alone mostly.
Sounds like its coming from the front or middle somewhere.
Any ideas chaps, as i've run out of things to check. :)

Have you greased the swingarm :?:
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.

My 2p worth  you could check the bearings/bushes at each end of the rear shock :!:

Yup, swingarm and all greased.
After a bit of riding today and over a few speed bumps the damn creak sounded when the rear lifted and lowered.
Have a spare shock when i broke up my old VTR so might swap em and see if that cures. :)

mate i had that way back on my original storm, it was the lower linkage needle bearings, didn't do it with the load off the bike, but as soon as you applied load there the squeak was.
for the sake of it slap some new ones in, grease em up and job done.
Smile..........it confuses people

I will re-check shock linkages and see if its touhing exhaust under load.
Forgot to add, on first post even though i said i checked but what i actually done was replace all linkages as i had a very good spare set from my old VTR which i greased all up before fitting.
So i pretty much know they are in good condition.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
