Hmmm What next?
Hmmm What next?
I'm trying to decide what bike to get next!
The firestorm has done me great service since I got her in may and I am so glad I got it as my first 'proper' bike.
Now I'm starting to look around for my next weapon! Choices are:
SP1
GSXR 750
ZX9R
Ducrapi 996
Be looking to spend probably upto 3500. Would love an SP1 but I ride around town a fair bit and don't know if I can be doing with it after all the rumours I've heard!
HELP!!!

The GSXR will suit your riding needs but the Ducati would look a lot better in your garage. Then again I think you have to own an SP once. ZX9 is just a big comfy sports tourer that isnt a patch on the Blade of a similar years.

Umm. Think an SP1 is too much like a FireStorm in concept so to get away from that then maybe a gixxer?
Before everyone who has an SP1 jumps down my throat I know they are different but not different enough IMHO.
I bought a '748' as the latest 'must have' (thought 996 too weighty/less nimble and less revvy), but I still retain the FS as they are just great thumpin' V twins.
Go with whatever feels 'right' and if in a years time you turn round and say "That was a good descision" then you're laughing.

well I'm contemplating the previously uncontemplatablebubble. I'm keeping the SP for fun cos I luv it plus I don't believe there's an affordable alternative - but I'm looking to replace the storm for two up touring. may end up just changing the bars for something more comfortable, we'll see.
don't believe all you hear about SP's and town riding, its a very minor issue and something you quickly adapt to, then never notice again

i've just put a power commander on mine.
I'm still playing with different maps at the mo so I'll let you know what I think when I've finished playing.
Personally I think it would be a better around town bike than the Storm if it had some high rise bars. I know that would ruin the concept of the bike but the fuel injection is soo much better than the Storms carburation and its pop-n-stop tendencies and as to comparing it to be similar to the storm LSM you need to go ride one.
Totally different kettle of fish in my book.

.
The SP1/town thing can be improved with a Power Commander and the flapper mod.
Do a test ride on all of them and see which you prefer....thats the only way to decide.

Well when after another bike I tried an SP 1 and then thought that the Ducati 748 was better so went with that as more nimble, fun, iconic, with a soul that was lacking in the SP. Only my opinion so ????

Stunning looks and love the open, dry clutch "Ducaticlatter" LOL.

there's nowt quite like the love between man & his bike, regardless of inter-brand banter, its what sets us apart from the heathens & fosters a sense of brotherhood (oooh sounds Obama-esque
). even Lee with his giant scooter is only temporarily ostricised
ironically LSM, the primary reason I will never own a ducati is the clutch - I prefer my bikes not to mimic a cement mixer

I used to be like that DeanO. but changed my mind once I had one. Odd but true. Think it is 'cos you can see it all whizzing around etc. Thing is they don't make that noise when the bike is driving forward because the slack on the clutch tangs/drum slots is removed by the pressure on them. It is only at a stationary position do you get it.
