Better IMHO than gauges as gauges can be 'out of synch' between themselves but these ball-in-tube types are VERY accurate. They also come with the adaptors to fit into the intakes. Very complete.
No, I'm not on commission. Just know they work well as I have a set like this.
Follow the instructions.
Also, a small dumpy FLAT blade driver to adjust the coupling between the two carbs.
I fitted one of the adaptors in the fwd intake, a 'T' piece into the rear petrol tap vac hose and have permanent pipes attached with stoppers to allow very quick checking of the balance. That front rhs adapter is a 845T4RD to fit .

Yup, a right B%%£$$* to fit. Save yourself the aggravation, bite the bullet and pop the carbs off, then the plastic panel beneath and then you can get to it in seconds.
Otherwise you can ALMOST get to it for hours.
But once you've set the carbs you'll deffo notice the difference.

Have just got a ball & tube vacuum gauge thingy to balance my carbs with
...had a look at doing it today to find that (as mentioned many times on here before) the take off point from the rear cylinder is impossible to get at!
So I was thinking of going down the 'cut the vaucum pipe & fit a T piece' route.
But what size T piece do I need? Is it a 6mm?
Then reckon I'll just get a joiner piece to put in there when not using the t piece.

Well I got round to balancing the carbs today, & it was a right pain, but I got there in the end!
There's definately a knack to getting to the blanking screw & the carb adjust screw, but once you've sussed how to do it, it's ok. Patience is the key!!!
Incidentally instead of trying to get to the 'impossible to reach' rear cylinder vacuum take off point, I cut the vacuum pipe in half & put a 5mm hose joiner in there. Then after you have clamped the hose at the fuel pump end, you just unhook the joiner (fuel tap end) & plug it into the carb balancing gauge tube.... & hey presto you're ready to go!
(thought i'd just mention this method as an alternative to the 'T piece' one)

Yup, that'll work fine.
Mine's already got a tee peice connected as the take off for the scott oiler.
Makes life easy
It's just getting to the front one....
A cap head screw (allen key type) makes a good blanking plug, BTW.
Also (as suggested here) a golf tee.
Did you notice any difference?
