Picked it up tonight, -1 up here
Impressions of my Storm (now I'm used to a GSX-R600) are:
Skinny
Relaxed riding position
Very poor front brakes. Which is a bit worrying, because the GSX-R's brakes didn't stun me after switching from my old Storm.
but most of all...
GRUNTIER THAN A BEAN-FED PORNSTAR!

Well, it's going back to the dealer cos it ain't working!
When I picked it up on Tuesday night, it wouldn't tickover outside the dealers and when I pulled the choke out, it made hardly any difference to the revs or the bike's ability to tickover.
The salesman summoned a mechanic who said "...all the choke does is richen the mixture". I pointed out that pulling the choke should raise the rpm, to which he just looked at the floor and shuffled his feet a bit. It was 5.15pm, and I think he was due to clock off
Anyway, the bike warmed a bit and ticked over OK. I rode it 15 miles home, no problems. Went to start it Wednesday morning, bugger to start, wouldn't tickover at all, had to keep revving it.
Got home on the Wednesday after work, battery too little charge to spin engine. Connect it to an Oximiser which says it has at least 6v.
Thursday morning, Oximiser showing battery is tip-top bike starts ok and with much choke-juggling sort of ticks over OK. Leave it connected to the Oximiser while at work.
Just got in from work, Oximiser still showing 100%. Disconnect Oximiser, go to start bike. Starter spins s-l-o-w. rock!
Phone dealer who says:
"When can you get it to us?"
After carefully re-explaining the problem, he puts me on to the service manager who is coming to pick it up in the morning.
Before I bought it, the salesman assured me it would undergo a thorough check in the workshop partly because they were putting it through its MOT that day too.
My current feeling is they have this one chance to put it right, the starting and the tickover, or I'm handing it back for a refund.
Sorry for the long post, feel better now

I would feel the same as you, give them one chance to sort it out, as it shouldn't really have gone out like that to you in the first place

Good luck with it, and fingers crossed they sort it

Keep us posted,
Chris.
oh dear, that's a poor show - it'll have been one of those thorough 388 point checks all dealers seem to promise, completed in around 15 mins usually
I think you should always work on the presumption that it ain't in the dealer's best interest to find faults before you've paid up & ridden/driven away - at least with separately purchased independent warranties.
well if you decide on a refund yer old one is available as of yesterday - bought meself a nice black '03 blackbird to replace it
still got me SP tho so you lot will continue to benefit from me charm, wit, youthfully dashing good looks & and all round good eggliness
edit: forgot modesty

They came and collected the bike this morning while I was at work.
I phoned them at 3pm to see if they'd had a chance to look at the bike. This is how the conversation went:
Service bod: Hello, Tillstons
Me: Hi, it's Mr blindmaninchains
SB: ...
Me: you picked my Firestorm up this morning
SB: yeah
Me: I was just wondering if you'd had a chance to look at the bike?
SB: Not sure, I wandered over there 5 minutes ago, they had it's seat of...
Me: Right. Ok, I'll ring back tomorrow then.
SB: OK.
1 hour later, my phone rings
Me: Hello?
SB: Hello, it's xxxx from Tillston's, you're bike is ready.
Me: What was wrong with it?
SB: It's had a new battery and the injection system adjusted
Me: But it doesn't have fuel injection
SB: Oh yeah, I'm thinking of an SP-2! The carbs have been adjusted.
Me: OK, see you tomorrow.
In the meantime, I've been in touch with Consumer Direct who advised me to send them a letter via recorded delivery stating that this is their one and only chance to sort it, otherwise I'll reject it and demand a refund, Sale of Goods Act 1979 etc etc.
Dean O, I'd love it back! If this isn't sorted tomorrow, I'll be in touch

I hope its all sorted tomorrow, thankfully you don't have to bond with yer dealer to bond with yer bike. that said, I'd be surprised if a bit of carb adjustment & a new battery doesn't cure it - shame they didn't do it before you bought it tho
however if it goes tits up, there's nowt I'd like more than to see me storm return to her previous good home
