VTR drag bike

This is a VTR drag bike I saw up at the Bulldog Bash last august. I always meant to put it up ages ago but forgot about it.

Yeah, saw that one last year too. Had plenty of time to look at it while waiting for the strip to dry!

Only got four runs in all weekend

(11.6 best time, no rubber down after the rain)

Are they flat slide Mikuni's?

And the tank range will be even shorter than normal, and that's saying something!

Yeah, but it's only got to do 1/4 of a mile at a time

Surely that engine would be highly tuned,ie a lot of time and money spent on it.......and they're risking all by using what looks like standard cct's

I did think of that, but probably unlikely ..............ps,.. i have dismantled an old cct for a peek, and now know what you mean about filing the void between the end of the cct plunger(seen once the hollow securing pin is punched out),and the end of the worm drive ,so that if the spring did break,then the total length of the cct cannot reduce,therefore causing camchain to slip

Still havn't got round to modifying em yet though

It's street use what knackers em though. I'm sure Roger Ditchfield said they used standard CCTs on the BSB racebike and never had any probs with em.

Now you mention it, Roger told me that too

He said they'd never had a failure on a race prepared engine and that was world wide not just here in the UK. That was a few years ago now

Yeah, but you've got to get back down the service road to the pit area, too, unless you're rich enough to have a fat bloke on a scooter tow you back down.

The tough guys hold the tow rope in their teeth!

(leaves the hands free to wave at the adoring crowds).

And re the CCT's, at least on that bike it's easy to undo the little cap screw and drop a few drips of oil down the front one to stop the spring from breaking....

And, of course, if they last 5K at least before breaking, that's a lot of drag runs

Nice looking VTR 'device'. Easy to get to the CCT's etc eh? Knowing the cost of running machinery like this means a new CCT set a run wouldn't even break the bank!!!

It was savage wasnt it. I had a crappy cheap ass tent too which was leaking after 30 mins of rain. On the first night. You can imagine my joy.

Was gutted the track was so wet, I didn't get around to going up it. Hey, what colour is your storm?

Black belly pan, carbon front muddie and hugger.
Mirrors with indicators in. Parked up on the main tarmac bit in the camping area mostly last year.

Did you beat my mate up the strip? He was a really short guy on a green bandit 6? I saw a yellow one do that. It was one of the few I saw there. I was cheering you on if it was!
