hi all
i am after some bar risers and put a post up in wanted
but , looking at some old posts it seems the clip ons dont really need the locating peg to be into the yoke.
what i want to know is can i simply just cut 2 bits of alloy tube the correct id and slip it under the clip on and then fab a cap for each of the tops ??
would this work ok or would it be dangerous??
regards mark

home made bar risers ??????

the thunder rolls on!!!
Re: home made bar risers ??????
Would work fine IMO. As I have said before, I rode for many miles and several years without the lugs engaged in the yoke, but the top of the clipon was never above the top of the fork leg.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

right cheers fella.
so whats the cap for on the ones they sell ?
does just simply cover the fork adjusters, and are the bought ones above the fork leg ? will have to have a measure, when i fit the fork springs i will drop the front 10mm so i only need to have 9 mm above the clip on now to get the 19mm rise the bought ones give.

hi,
The cap is probably just to tidy the appearance up , like Stratman i raised mine 19mm or so and tightened them up, without using risers i ran bike for a good while like that without any probs
In the end i decided i wanted even more height and fitted Renthal type bars
