Hi .
When i drive in first gear ( slowly ) the sometimes it sounds if the bike backfires to the airbox ?
On occasion the bike will stall.
Is there something wrong

Its the timing that must be out.
If your like most VTR owners your cam tensioners probably sh1t it self.
If its not just look into your timing.

1998 Firestorm, 47,000 miles, forks valved & sprung, proflex shock +4mm over standard, manual ccts', k&n, 50#slow 185#/190# mains, front carb slide mod, R6 throttle tube, Tank raised, Viper cans, Coerce fork brace, EBC lite front discs & pads.

mine occasionally does this when idling, thought it was just a foible of having open exhaust and huge carbs. If it becomes more regular i might think there is a problem. worth checking your ccts and carb balance and mixture.

Nothing to do with timing, get your carbs ballanced and turn your idle speed up a bit to about 1050/1100, that should sort it. Most storms cough and stall now and again..
