About time too Jim!

Errrrrrr did you read the review in this / last weeks MCN between the new R1 and the Blade?

Apart from keeping the faith with Honda, perhaps the decision to go with the new blade was not the best one?

R1 gets a brilliant review by comparison with the blade which gets its butt kicked and for not many more beer tokens either.

Big Bang sounds like the way to go with a four

Although the R1 had less BHP and less torque, it could still out-accelerate the Blade whilst pulling a higher gear (all according to MCN). How does that work then???

Maybe its because the Blade rider didn't open the throttle or maybe its because MCN spouts total BS week after week......you decide.

You must have got a very decent deal then Jim, good for you I say  then again the new R1's about 2k dearer than the Blade innit :?

Be interesting to see how many more manufacturers adopt the big bang running order over the next few years-if any? I can see it catching on...

Maybe it's something to do with the better grip on acceleration afforded by the firing sequence of 'Big Bang'?

Nope Blade £9621ish List and R1 is £9999 list, I was offered the 09 R1 for £9495 when I enquired at Taz (could have been import)

Who knows about the next big thing! We dont know how the BMW or the Aprillia will go yet :D

Dont see that working on the road,You can hardly hang on to the Blade if you open the thing right up so surely loads of torque from the off is highsidesville? 1198 anyone? Now that has got low down grunt and if I had £12500 then the Blade would have been second choice 8)

Fairy snuff! At the end of the day Jim if you're happy with what you got who gives a hoot!

Yeah, I was refering to IL4's in general. Theres already plans for a big bang R6-which I know is also a Yam-but I reckon the other big 3 will adopt a similar stance. We'll have to see?

The BM and Aprillia are V4's are'nt they

Now you really are believing the marketing hype :D You'd have to be an excellent rider and right on the edge of tyre adhesion to ever know the difference. I would rather think that it had more to do with MCN's BS journalism.

This time next year, the latest Blade/GSXR/ZX-10R will be detailed in MCN and how it makes last years passe R1 obsolete and slow......

Amen to that Zak. I have just read the first R1 write up (BIKE this month) that actually sounds real. He loves the engine (who wouldnt!) but says the handling is not up to ZX or Blade. He says that the Blade flatters the sh1t rider (Phew! happy with that) and that the R1 gives greatest pleasure when ridden really hard on track settings! Whos for a 175mph blast to Sleaford!
Whatever the outcome as long as my Blade is reliable doesnt use 2 ltrs of oil every 1200miles and makes me grin so much I shi*, then whoop whoop roll on summer :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin
