Re: converted cct's?

Post by slot »

Well i've decided to convert my cct's to 'Chimp' manuals

I get the jist of the worm drive modification, but personally a feel it's more of a fail safe than a permanent fix (well for piece of mind)

I now have, if anyone is interested? . . . a set of working standard CCT internals, spring, worm drive, plunger etc
I cannot verify the age or mileage covered on these but my bike ran noise free, and the bodies had 'Orange' dot's , as a rough guide of age ?

Anyway, drop me a pm if you want them

That is very true to a point Dave :!: But the main two things with my type of mod is:-

(A) It takes the guess work out of setting the correct tension of manual CCT's.

(B) The standard CCT can still work as Mr Honda intended. From many hours of R&D I now know the standard CCT's self adjust at certain rev's.

I realise it's your bike so the option you go for has to be your choice :!:

I hope all goes well.

Chris.

firestarter1977 wrote:ha ha ha yeah the valve made me get the mod done and out of the way! I just used a 8mm bolt cut down to the correct length. I filed it down square until it didnt rattle when the head was replaced. I dont think the weight difference will make any difference between alloy and mild steel.

I imagine that the spacer will need to be remade at set intervals as the chain wears incase the spring snaps.

Out of all the mods this seemed to make the most sense to me
I have just done this modification as well ,and like you, i used the unthreaded part of an 8mm bolt :!:
I only wish i'd done it months ago :)

Seems you got the same "free gift" as i got from Tony.mon, ie the bent valve..nowt like giving somebody nightmares 8O

If i get round to modify my standard cct's in any way, that'll be the way i'll be doing it :)
Sadly, can't take my own "advice", as I'm still running standard ones!

But that's just one of three pairs of bent valves- both front exhausts every bloody time...
I took the advice Tony ,after you sent me the free CCT to strip down and have a look at, with the bent valve 8O , i basically shat myself ,and decided to do the cct modification yesterday morning :!:
