Intake baffles

Post by NZred »

Today I spoke with a Honda dealer,.. and was told that the late model VTR1000F's have baffles in the inlet system/ manifolds that can be removed to give a power increase.
Does anyone know about this .. or know of any down side with this alteration / modification ??

Has to be the ridge atop the air filter element... Just hack it off (and remove the small retainer on the air box cover that fits over it.
Doesn't give you a real power increase, but I've noticed a tad more intake noise and (more important) better "blipability" (i.e: revs up more freely).
Recommended lil' mod (especially for the price...)

Here's a linky

NO,.. its inside the inlet manifold.. I suspect it is a fuel defuser.. or a devise to to assist or further inhance the swirl and fuel mixing at lower RPM.
I was conserned that its removal my give poor driveability issues at low RPM.. or poor fuel economy..
Maybe its only on the later models. ??? :?

Donno... Mine is a 98 and doesn't have such a device (I just took the whole intake apart a couple of days ago)...
A shop manual would show you if your mechanic was right, but I've never heard of anything like that.
