So I stuck an ad on the local Freecycle board, and have now collected:
Kwak ZZR600, put away running in 1999 and not started since, complete with full Givi set and Datatool alarm)- Front calipers need replacing, carbs cleaning out, new battery and tyres, then we'll see if she runs-
Honda XBR 500 single cafe racer, with a broken engine- maybe dropped valve? I'll know when I strip it down. But it's clean and shiny, and rust-free. Well, it is a Honda!
Honda VT250. Now this one's a wreck, to be fair, the exhausts rotted and it failed its MOT in 2000 and it's been left in the garden ever since. The engine's likely to still be ok, and the Comstar wheels/forks (Air assisted! whoever thought of that idea?) and so I'll sell the bits and/or break the engine to buy bits for the others.
These are gonna make a great summer holiday project for my 14yo daughter, who's dead keen on bikes. She's already trying to find out how to get a 33bhp kit for the Kwak.
And all three for nothing- can't beat it really.
But it goes to show, they're all out there, if you look hard enough.
(My next ad will mention Vincents
