How do I fit a bigger tank to my Storm

Post by bigfatbloke-71 »

Have seen the threads about fitting a VFR tank, but that is to much hassle for the summer time.

I have heard that I can use a 19l Firestorm tank as opposed to the 16l on mine.

What does changing the tank involve?

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Good. Don't.

Actually I agree and changed it back after the first ride out as it was too big. Loads of them done like that in the States though
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

You've probably seen a pic of Pauls(Stratman's) yellow bike with the VFR tank fitted Kev, so here's a red one, complete with a Mario Nava fairing:-

I've seen pics of a few VFR tank conversions but that one doesnt actually look that bad Chris.

I can understand why someone would want to. VTR tank range/s are rubbish.

I can't help wondering how feasible it would be to split a VFR and a VTR tank and put the top of the VFR on the VTR base.. But then I have had stupid ideas before...

Got a pic of both bottoms for us to look at the two different tanks that is. Other option is to slice up the stock tank weld a large strip shaped then weled in, but welding that thin is a art also smoothng out and spraying to make it look stock. Another alternative is to convert under the seat with a fuel cell one of those bag types or custom weld then have that piped into the main tank could be doable but you would loose luggage room. not that it was a great size anyway.

That one class good - someone should offer a service to do this. Customer supplies the tank and they do the rest. I would imagine once you had done a couple it would be quite easy.

I didn't think Pauls (Stratman) bike looked too bad either:-

For those who haven't seen Pauls work read all about it here:-
