Will this battery fit?

Post by Giddsy »

Hi there,

I have just bought a new battery for my bandit which is code YTX9-BS and am wondering if I can swap it with the older one in my firestorm as I am flogging the Bandit.

It looks identical in terms of dimensions and the fixings are very slightly different but can't see this making a difference.

Is there any potential problem with this?

Thanks.

Would prob do , but its a lower output than standard at 8 a/h , the standard 'storm battery is 10 a/h :)

I agree with Stevie, nothing to gain by fitting a smaller amp hour battery to your Storm. The Storm being a big V twin needs more cranking power than the IL4 bandit. You'll probably get away with it now going into warmer weather (hopefully) but come winter time again you'll need the bigger amp battery,

Chris.

Thanks Stevie and Chris, sounds best to not bother. Is another selling point for the bandit anyways.

I picked up a YTZ12A-B (?) battery for my VTR. It is used in the TL-S which has a higher compression ratio and FI so it can surely handle the VTR. It was cheaper, and more importantly, weighs almost 2 lb less.
