My Storm's going next Wednesday...

Post by Hankie »

Sad to see her go, but chronic backache and a touch of arthritis means I could only manage short-ish runs on her at best. I'll still be on 2 wheels though, part-Ex'd the Storm for a new Triumph Tiger 1050, hoping the easier riding position will allow longer runs. Having a race exhaust put on giving it an extra 10BHP and while not in the Blade class it still goes round corners OK. Might have a few bits for sale like a yellow Baglux tank cover + bag, sprockets, teenycators and so on. Hope she goes to a good home.. :sad2

Yeah, it's tall - but I'm a tad over 6ft and 16 Stone so I need something big! I had a real close look at a Moto Guzzi Breva 1100 that was in the shop, never had anything much to do with Guzzis but I was impressed by the build quality of this one. http://www.bsbikes.co.uk/img09/usedoffer/breva.jpg. Engine sounded nice but it squirmed like a bitch when you blipped the throttle. Lovely bike to have in your garage alongside something else but couldn't live with it as my only 2-wheel transport.

I had my Storm parked up outside the shop and from behind I heard a crash and the unmistakable sound of a bike grinding tarmac. I thought someone had hit my bike, but it was a female rider trashing one of the demonstrator Speed-Triples and nearly taking mine with it. Salesman wasn't too pleased, and girl was embarassed as hell for dropping it. Me saying 'you don't reckon much to the handling then?' didn't help either...

I think it's because Honda has no replacement for the Storm.

An SP1/2 engine with VFR comfort would fit the bill!

Have to agree it doesn't look right at all. Maybe it's the photo angles for much of it, but those flat bars are going to be awful from any angle...

Before I bought the Tiger I considered a new 'Blade, the HRC repro in Hunt's is simply beautiful. I went to try a different bike in nearby Congleton (a red RR8 Blade, but still new and unregistered priced £8200) but I was getting cramp just sitting on the thing :eek2 . I was surprised how small and light it was but figured it wouldn't get the use it deserved with me riding it anyway. Only other bike in the Honda range to look at was perhaps the VFR800, don't know much about them other than the servicing is expensive.

Each to their own and all that ,.....but to me the worst thing aboot it is the fairing, somehow it looks almost detached from the rest o the bike , it would look better if the fairing and screen wasnt cut so short , and came back towards the tank and bars more ,but possibly that wouldnt work ,as the fairing would probably foul the handlebars:?

Well the 'storm finally went last week but when I went to pick the new bike up yesterday there was no sign of it. Don't know if it's been sold already or just moved to auction. I'll be keeping an eye out for any new member with a yellow storm with the site sticker already on the screen!

Have a few bits to shift now, have boxed the Baglux/Bagster (plus an un-used air filter I bought but never used that can go with it) I'll advertise when I figure a reasonable price. I have a set of standard cans that someone can collect for free (I won't post) so PM me, dunno what condition they're in as I never used them but they've been stored in my garage so should still be OK.

This is the Tiger I got to replace the 'Storm, takes a bit a getting used to and with 70miles on the clock still running in, but it goes round corners on rails.

A very smart looking bike Chris :!: 8)
The blue paint work with the black frame go together well IMHO :!:
I bet those three cylinders sound pretty good too :D

Give us a run down on it once you've cover some miles,

Chris.
