value advice - non VTR

Post by c13tay »

Just looking for a bit of advice here ...........

Due to berevement, Ive been asked to handle the sale of a friends bike

Its a 1998 R1 ( on an R plate)

Red, white, black

34k miles - excellent condition

Not been ridden for 2.5 years (since he died - his mum couldnt face selling it as it was his pride and joy !)

Anyway, ive cleaned it up, changed oil etc and it looks amazing !!

whats it worth ??

thanks

1998 R1's are becoming semi-classic like original Blades.

Research suggests it should be worth around about £1800-£2000.

If it really is mint (be honest with yourself) then hold out for top end.

Low mileage (<10,000) 1999 models I can find for £2999 from dealers and a 98 on Ebay goes for around £1700. Some appear on there with prices of over 3 grand, but they just sit there while people chuckle at them.

Kitchs advice sounds good. Is it a white model with the red seat? They fetch top book if its a minter in that colour. I would look for between £1700-2400, if mileage was lower as in 10K it could fetch as much as 3K.

Its not the white with red seat model

Its white body with red tank and black middle section

Even so, it should sell. Its still one of the earlier R1's. Think the one Beamish is on about is the 1998-99 model with the larger tank capacity. The one you've pictured there is a 1999-2000.

If its been maintained regardless you should get a reasonable price. Shame the mileage isnt a little less like some of the others have said.

Good luck, hope it works out choose what!
