Trolley Jack
Trolley Jack
Just a quickie guys. Is it ok to jack the front of the bike up using a trolley jack under the engine - with a piece of wood in between. New front tyre needs to be fitted. Thanks.
Re: Trolley Jack
Yup, thats what I do everytime, but take care to get the block of wood and jacking point nice and central as you dont want it getting wobbly once the wheel is out. this is not so easy as the front pipe gets in the way, but the correct piece of wood to fit the shapes will sort it out

Re: Trolley Jack
Thanks for that. Puts my mind at rest.
Re: Trolley Jack
Please can you confirm if this is OK with the rear on a paddock stand.
Re: Trolley Jack
yes, rear wheel up on paddock stand [as far back on the swing arm as possible], trolley jack under sump [with block of wood to spread load and help avoid front pipe] as far forward and central. Bobs your mothers brother

Re: Trolley Jack
Just to be safe, I tie the front forks to trees or something solid either side when doing this, to make sure it can't fall sideways off the jack when wrenching on sticky bolts or something...
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Trolley Jack
