I found that my bikes exhaust (where my left hand aftermarket link pipe) connects to the original header was leaking (drawing in air) which made it pop and bag more on the over run. Sealing that joint up properly has definitely made the bike cut out less and tick over a lot better now
So if your bike suffers from cutting out occasionally (it may have started doing it more recently as mine did) or poor tick over it could be worth checking your exhaust for a leaky joint.
Nice One Chris.
Funny you should mention that now. Only last week I went out and bought some exhaust paste to seal a little leak between the rear header pipe and the rest of the system (you know, the bloody difficult one to get at, hidden behind the swinger ) and after coming back for a spin I thought then how much better the tick over was.
Never thought it was the leak, I just put it down to a good run burning the crud off the plugs but I'll bet is was a combo of both now

Pete,
I only found out by accident that a small leak would make a difference. I had the cans with the link pipes removed when I was servicing the swing arm and shock linkage bearings recently. On replacing them I noticed one had been leaking, so I made sure it was properly sealed this time. Result
A lot of people forget about that joint that's hidden by the swing arm, but I do know how difficult it is to get to

Yeah, and strange how it's proved a weekness on both the Firestorm and the Sp
Jonesy. How permenent of a fix do you want? A roll of teflon tape will do a quick job which will release pretty easily, Honda gaskets are about £12 plus a new clamp or exhaust paste from a car accessorie shop will set you back a fiver but it might never come apart again :wink2
