On the Gourock to Dunoon ferry , heading over to the Cowal Peninsula

We just wanted to explore the local Cowal area.

We stopped at the viewpoint at the "Kyles of Bute" for a rest and a few pics, this is Loch Striven, a sea loch, ..the west coast of Scotland is full of these sea lochs, some of which stretch many many miles inland. That's actually the Isle Of Bute on the rhs,you can just see ,the wee ferry which links Bute is visible just down from the top of the pic....Rothesay is the main town on Bute ,and the main ferry sails from there.

We stopped in Tighnabruaich for a bite to eat, this is the view from the cafe .

Then on to "Otter Ferry" ,a strange name for a village ,first time i've been there, it sits on the shores of Loch Fyne , another one of those sea lochs i spoke about.
This pic was taken outside the Oystercatcher Hotel in Otter Ferry ,this is the pontoon for the "Yachties" who come ashore for lunch or a beer .

Time was getting on, as these roads are slow although traffic free , with lots of twistys,...infact mostly twistys ,so we headed for the ferry homeward to Gourock ,where a 50min ride along the coast road through Largs took us home .

Not a huge run , around 160 miles or so , but very enjoyable just the same , 90% of the run was on dry roads , we were all really glad we decided to go.
Even better was the fact that the ticket collector on the outward ferry didn't collect our tickets ,although he walked right past us , and we had them in our hands,...and the collector on the way home only took the motorcycle section, not the rider part .......so we'll just have to go again sometime
