well guys,
just had my first track day at silverstone, had a great day on the storm,
she behaved well and i managed to grind off the hero blobs and scratch
in my new knee sliders,
one thing got me down though........
the way the gixxers, blades, r1's etc were passing me like i was parked up.
so i've just traded in my 53 plated storm for a beautiful gsxr 750, one
ride was enough to convince me i had to buy her!
hopefully honda will sort out the storms problems ( fuelling, gearbox &
make her lose a few kilos ) and who knows, maybe i'll buy another one day,
but for now its on to new pastures, thanks to all who have freely offered
their advice, have a great storm gathering, ride safe!
bye for now
bye for now
but........that's they way we've always done it

Well, with 50% more power you'd expect them to blitz you on the straightsCHUGNUT wrote: one thing got me down though........

BUT
I've found out that if you overtake 'em before a series of corners you can put enough distance between you and them that they can't catch you on the straight the next time round.
I find it MUCH more satisfying having a bit of a tussle with an R1, Blade or the worst offenders GSX-R1000, getting past them and then not seeing them again, than to be on the fastest bike and use the power rather than skill to blitz everybody.
I've done the same thing on all my bikes and have actually DELIBERATELY chosen them coz they're not the latest cutting edge tackle, you actually have to RIDE them to go quickly.

Suzuki GS450
ZZR600E1
VTR1000F
And very happy with 'em all

hi ben you seem like a guy after my own heart, great fun isnt it sorting out the straight line squirters, makes em pig sick lol
when you see em off on the bendy bits he he.
especially if they get a chance to see its a 50yr old fart seen em off .....makes me smile anyway
so much more satisfying isnt it than buying the latest tackle and expecting yer wallet to supply talent aswell.
seen it many a time on the race track too. along comes some well off juggler with wads of daddys dosh all the latest kit and when you ride round them on yer home brewed tackle its throw the helmet on the floor time ......snigger
cheers mate
