Now chaps need your help with buying a Storm

The deal fell through so I have found another bike off another friend.
It is a 1997 P reg bike 4 owners with 22,000 on the clock.My mate has had it 2 years and had no issues apart from tyres. The bike has lots of history and is very good condition apart from the left side fairing. When he first bought the bike it had marks to the fairing so he paid to have that side painted,at the same time he got a belly pan done as well.To me the colour match is poor and that will bug me but can it be matched ?
Any ideas and also any major issues of a 20,000 bike.
I do apologies if some of this has been asked before but I need help before the wife pushes me towards a ZX6R we saw today.

Depends on the price buddy. P plate is one of the early bikes but 22K isnt excessive. You should be able to match the colour easily enough (or a good spray man will be able to) Dont pay over the odds as there are some cracking Storms about for not a lot of money .

Yup. Anything over £1500 for an older one, £1800-£2000 for a newer one is more than you need to spend.
There's a few about for around the £1000 mark, haggle hard for the things this site highlights, like CCT's, Reg/rec, tyres of course and if you get race cans you'll be wanting a standard set for the MOT.
Paint match is easy, any decent sprayer can do it, and most plastics can be repaired if they're cracked.
Worth paying over the odds for?
A decent rear shock, front fork rebuild or respring, Dynojet kit and proper Dyno set-up.
If the owner's a member of this forum, clearly the bike's worth a bit more, 'cause he will have been nagged into doing all the little fixes!
Lastly, if your budget can run to it, there's an SP2 going cheap on here if you look hard enough!

I've got an SP2 - 03 plate with 16500 miles and a 2001 'X' reg Firestorm in yellow with 19k.
Both looking for a new home. There's an ad for the Firestorm on here and if you PM me I'll give you any info you need to know about either bike.

If you'll need a respray, factor that in.
There's others about, and this is one of the very first ones, mileage isn't all that good.
Show him some other ads, he'll drop a bit, then it's down to you as to whether you want to go for it or keep looking for a while.
Let him know you're looking at a couple of others, as well.
Add brownie points for brand new/nearly new good quality tyres, chain and sprockets.
