CB1100F

Post by Jbrebel »

Being as we have a few "retro" riders on here, thought it'd be nice to gauge opinion on this-

Where's Tim when you need him!?

"These computer-generated images straight out of Japan show the hotly-anticipated Honda CB1100F – a bike that our Japanese sources are adamant will be a 2010 model in Japan at least.

The latest information suggests the CB1100F retains much of the retro styling but gets a newly designed side panel, engine crankcases from the CB1300R and will come with a long list of optional parts including carbon fibre bolts on and even an alcantara seat."

Yep like it too although the seat could be a bit bigger.

I like it, well most of it the rear mudguard / light unit looks a bit too retro for me. Something along the lines of a modern take on the CB900 rear end might have looked better.

Not sure it does it for me.......... :x

unlike the retro icons that others have mentioned [the Paul Smart Duc, the CB11, the ZXR etc] which mimic the style of the original, this one is being retro for the sake of it, and looks nothing like anything we remember.

overall a bit too much of a mishmash of periods and ideas, 5/10 please try harder

Love the tank but nothing else is really ticking the boxes for me. Will be interesting to see what Honda do with the V4 engine that is fitted to the next gen Blackbird.

Its nice, reminds me of old brit bikes, would be nice to see a new cb900 style bike with the rectangular rear light and the little spoiler over it......need to go all square and slab sided-ish. maybe we will have to wait another 10 years before the 70's bikes are retro-esque repro's???
Kawasaki cottoned onto the 70's look a few years back.

I don't actually mind it too much Chris. Certain bits-I'm not fussed.

In a funny way it looks like a melted down CB1300 :?

I do prefer the big CB though :biggrin It'll be interesting to see if they bring the 1100 over here? Retro/naked bike sales seem to be doing well atm.

Timbo wrote:As i am a bit of a retro fan, and i knew honda had a CB1100 years ago cos i am old, i dug up a pic.

Apart from the tank shape, i see no similarities with the older bike, but Retro is not necessarily a new version of an old bike, it is a style. What others have said about the ZRX and Paul Smart is right, i myself have had a ZRX and also the original GPZ it was based on, but i think this is just a styling thing rather than a new improved version.

I dont recall this being on sale in the UK, i could be wrong.
Bigger rear disc than fronts?
Aiming at the American cruiser market, were they?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
