contact robin1000 or delmeekc re; moriwaki vtr ?????

Post by motostorm »

hi gents ,
a couple of months ago i bought a bike in belfast , (im in dublin myself ) ive been trying to trace some info on the bike , and i believe robin1000 was the third last owner , but unfortunately it dosent look like hes been on site for a long time :sad2 so i would be greatful for an email or something , also from reading some old threads delmeekc was talkin too him about sellin a moriwaki motor (is this the motor in now?? ) the motor and electrics ign carbs . all appear to be heavily modified :biggrin

ive just bought some manual ape type ccts from debbans (nice gentleman i might add ) but after further investigations it seems theres better solutions , i believe the ccts that are in are modified standard items , and if so (judging by deleeks vast knowladge on the subject ) they may be the best solution and a shame to remove !!!!

im currently building a (what i hope to be ) decent streetfighter from this bike and any help with its history/mods would be appreciated ,

Is this the same bike I saw for sale in N. Ireland when I was browsing through some old posts (not sure if it was on here or on VD) It was only the other night, and I thought it looked like Del's old motor, plus the spec matched and the QR hoses etc.

I can put you in touch with Del if you drop us a PM m8

thanks lads , yes its the bike alright , im buildin another fighter from it ! :D , its been through a few owners and some of the bits have been pilfered along the way , i think the ex system . im not sure on this theres micron carbon oval end cans but the front half looks standard to me , rearsets , but i got some harris items so happy out , theres a cbr1000rr frontend gone on , but shock has been whipped unfortunately :sad2 , but bike is comin on nicely , i bought a set of manual tensioners from debbens but after reading the thread on here it seems properly modified items are the best option , and del seems to have a great knowledge on the tensioners so if he has done them along with the motor ive every confidence all is in order ! so i think ill leave that end as is

ill get some pics up of the progress soon

Del came up with the same idea as I did regarding the CCT mod. I posted a diagram of what we both came up with in this link on page five http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3179

The benefit of doing this mod (as we both agreed) rather than fitting fixed tensioners such as Ape means that the standard CCT can operate as Mr Honda intended. It also takes away the guess work with adjusting manual tensioners to the correct tension, something which is not so easy for the non mechanically minded.

yup read that thread , you both seem to have a good knowledge on the type alright , as i said id be fairly confident after reading to leave the current set up in place , i have the bike back started and as a rolling chassis just bodywork electrics etc , cheers chris

I was considering this bike at one stage. Please speak to Roger Ditchfield, he knows a lot about this bike engine....it will be of help for sure.
