had an idea after seeing some decent mirrors with indicators in them on fleebay

is it possible to smooth over the hole in the fairings where the indicator is?

so that it will look like this sharkskin's one?



i really like the clean lines, would it be easy to do and what would i need to buy to do it?

preparation, preparation & preparation

Remove all paint in & around indicator hole front & back. Roughly key the back of the fairing surface, lay some fibreglass across the plug hole (might need some aluminium mesh to strengthen) - leave to set. Then some flexible plastic padding (bumper) filler to fill the crater. Sand down with progressively finer wetndry on a block - fine spot filler and a very fine sanding to finish. Wash & Clean, apply primer/sealer - Undercoat and finish with body colour.

Depends if your doing it as a local repair and touch up respray on a standard fairing panel as the Firestorm logo graphic might need replacing as well before gloss lacquering then polishing.

Alternatively give it to a bodyshop to do from scratch - as they aren't keen on mixed materials to spray (fibreglass etc) as they bake the paint, which the mixed materials can adversely react to.

basically I will have two different coloured fairings after the crash and they are both going to be re painted to that blue that the RR3 blade came with.

how much do you think a body shop would charge for something like this?

any one recommend somewhere in the north west?

ive got these indicators and think they would work well with the hole filled in.

you mean you cant see in the rear view mirror over 30mph?

the originals aint great to be fair.

are the led's bright enough?

when you say vibrate do they make noise because that would really piss me off.

Got these fitted on mine, and I've left another pair of flush fronts and mini rears on as well, just so they can be seen. (got the integral rear light with indicators in as well).

To be honest I find that although they vibrate a bit I can see perfectly well enough- after all, a car shaped slightly blurry shape in the mirror is quite likely to be a car, I don't want to be able to see what make....

when they vibrate do they make noise or just shake about

I had the holes in the fairing where the stalks used to come out of plastic welded. cost £100 included spraying over the patched area.

I think you should leave the original indicators (flush fitting?)in even if you fit those new ones.You just can never be seen enough imho.

there not very bright(mirror) and i would't want just these. the factory fitted bikes come with them these days but are a lot better quality, these are cheap and nasty and vibrate like hell, look cool though!!!

Agreed again, so leave a cats-eye in the fairing as well as the mirror ones.

saked the hole idea off, seen a pair of these on a local bike an the quality of the indicators are sh1t there is no weight to the mirros and they look naff!

stuck with original mirrorrs but fitted the indicators off the later model Firestorm and cut off the box connector and spliced it with the originals, looks like it should have looked.

also put some clear orginals on my dads RR3 Blade back end so it matches with the clear tail light.
