Meta Alarm

Post by IgorVigor »

Hello people.

The other day I realised that my firestorm has an alarm...
A Meta Alarm M357T V2

I had been wondering what the push button on the key was, and I went past the bike and pushed the button, and the bike beeped at me :P

Well after having a fiddle I realised it doesnt work properly.

Reason being, is:
when the alarm is set, after the 26 second arming/test period, the alarm goes off no matter what.
the indicators never flash
the hazard function clicks a solenoid but doesnt flash the indicators
the LED never comes on or flashes
It beeps twice on arm which is ok, but always 4 beeps disarm, apparently indicating the bike battery is low charge :S
Bike is never immobilised

Well I decided to check all the wiring, which turned out ok, and checked all the fuses on the bike, all of which seem fine.
Then I found a permament connection lead from the battery (starter solenoid actually) to the unit, with a 15 amp fuse...
I pulled the fuse to check it, all ok, plugged it back in and the alarm doesnt beep or do anything anymore :S

I proceded to recheck all fuses again, incase one blew, but all OK...
Bike still works fine, which is good...

Any ideas?
Or is the unit FUBAR? :P

If I cant get it too work again...
I might get a cheap cyclone alarm and fit that, just as a deterrent...

Strip it out and buy a padlock and chain. Its fubar. My Meta 351 packed up too and completely immobilised the bike the day before a long trip.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

I have a copy of the M357T V2 installation manual if that would be any use to you?

Thanks for the offer phil, but I already have a manual for it....

I just wanted to check to see if it was fixable...

As for the big chain, got one :P

Going to be "interesting" ripping it out...
Seeing all the wires are black :P

TBH it was easy. I think the wiring only patched into the existing loom twice and as long as you remove one at at time then reconnect the cut wires in the loom it will be a doddle, but originally I shared your reservations!

Ah fair enough....

I did find a plug pinout diagram (would cost me a £5)...
Apparently that makes it very easy to remove...

The wiring on mine looks as though it was done professionally.... :S

Loads of wires going everywhere, so could take a while :P
