SP question
SP question
I know this is not the SP site but a lot of the time it is very Marie Celest like.(the SP site that is)
Last week was out on the SP and noticed I had no front indicators left or right, the back ones are ok. Also the instrument light goes off and on as the indicators do. Is this a fault code or a built in device to let you know your indicators are not working. I have looked in the SP workshop manual to see but I can not find anything in the fault finding section. Are there 2 separate relays or is there one fuse for the front and another for the back?
Just that if I have to go digging under fairings I would like to have half an Idea where to start.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Re: SP question
I'll have to see if I can find a "circling vulture" smilie to add to the collection

Rich.

Re: SP question
I like the vultures Timbo
, dont take me wrong but I hate the little electrical things that sometimes turn in to a marathon. Mind you I can still ride it without front indicators!!!
PICTURES now there's a thing now I looked at the how to add pics thread and that is where it stopped. Too much info, I wouldn't have a clue where to start
Have spotted a hazard function in the Datatool booklet I will give that a try to see if they will work and if not it will be time to "Fiddle with the Wires"
Cheers

Re: SP question
So other than the indicators, how are you getting on with it Tattie?
What are your thoughts on how it compares to your old Storm? Glad you made the move or too early to tell yet.

Re: SP question
I think Mike may have something. The alarm is always wired through the 4 ways. Disconnect each indicator one by one including the rears and see what happens. The indicator loom from each stalk will have been spliced to introduce the alarm. look for the splice and possible corrosion or bad connection. Good luck mate.

Re: SP question
Pete,
It is a dream, I actually think it is more comfy than the storm. It feels like the reach over the tank is shorter and like there is less weight on the wrists, as the last while on the storm after about 60 miles the right hand was buzzing (VWF like) it seems tighter on the corners and the noise from the airbox when you are giving it some
. Have only managed about 400 miles since I got it but will give the indicators a go later today and perhaps have a wee run later. I should have got one ages ago but circumstances always seemed to conspire against it but what the hell I have done it now
. Mind you the weather has been US, the last 6/7 weeks I reckon we have not had more than 3 days without rain or crappy showers.
I have a few pics to post but I will need to try and get one of my computer mates to call out and put them on here for me.
Cheers

Re: SP question
Right,
Had a look (all of 10 mins) tried to fiddle with wires and am no better off. but on closer inspection when left or right indicator is selected both the rear flash together
. Didn't have time to check further but also noticed when sidlights are on they flash too
and as they are neon things it looks like blue flashing lights. Not what I really want. I tried the hazard warning function on the alarm fob but just back and sidlights flash. Can't get in to bulbs as they are flush fitting and I need access from the rear
. So I will need to clear a space in the shed later in the week and remove the fairing.
