i just used the standard stuff, it smelt whilst it was "burning off" but sealed the joint up well and has lasted longer than the firegum did. :)

I always used high temp RTV silicone sealant, warm it up after fitting, leave it for a while and then give it a gentle run. It flexes as opposed to the repair paste which will crack in a short while.

Cheers

Yep-standard stuff.

Every exhaust fitters I've used has done the same.

My Big Bruvver used to own Redline Race Cans and all the joins were sealed using heat resistent silicone. It's especially ideal for joining link pipes etc.

I did reply a while back to some dude who was having problems with his bike backfiring on over run.........this is caused by air being sucked in to poor fitting pipe link joints. A quick smear (and smear is not a rude word BTW :redface ) with some heat resistant silicone and you will no longer have war veterans diving for cover every time you ride through town

guys that have used the siliocone sealant for the link pipes what sort did you use?
and what sort of heat range should the selant be able to take?
i have some i use for gaskets, stands up to 250 degrees, is that enough for down pipes.
