Dumfries and Galloway CAR run ....Fookn weather.

Post by bikerpiker »

Weather was rubbish so i went a run in the car today with my wife.

We drove from here (Kilmarnock) ,to Dumfries ,then went the coast road past Sweetheart Abbey ,to Rockcliffe and Kipford ,both small sailing/fishing villages on the Solway coast ,whitewashed cottages at the waters edge etc. The tide was out for what seemed miles, and probably was ,and it was really strange being in Scotland ,but looking across the sand to Silloth , in Cumbria .

We drove home via Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas ,then up the side of Loch Ken and onwards towards Ayr ,and home to Killie.

It basically pissed down all day ,but at least it got us out the house ........and saved me from doing some diy

And the good thing was the roads would be ideal for a bike ride out ,so......

A bit of useless info ,i know ,but just though i'd share

Well you just name checked all my stops for the trip back to the the old homeland next week !!!! those were the towns and the roads of my teenage years.

Having looked at the weather, I have now abondoned the bike trip plan, and will go up in the car!.. Will have to blag a dirt bike of my brother on the farm and go play.

Great roads, shame about the weather, and the 200 mile of M6 I have to endure to get to the good bits

Aye ,twas pissin doon....it didn't stop the fishermen up the side of Loch Ken though .

I know the area well, cos of the fishing over the winter, Auchenreoch Loch (Crocketford),and Loch Urr, are not far from you ,but very rarely do we go to that area on the bike ,but probably should, cos as you know the roads are nearly empty.
I had a look for "Dolly" when driving through Parton ,but no sign of her
