Have you checked the valve clearances?

It could just be clutch basket rattle.
Any other symptoms. Is the bike running okay, not over heating or anything odd?

I would say sloppy camchain, balance carbs or get some one to do this for you, just to make sure one cylinder isnt 'chasing' the other, can cause a rattle . also could be a broken camchain guide. these are very mechanical engines, they tend to thrash and rumble any way.

It goes up to half way on the temperature gauge in traffic and the fan kicks in to keep it there but never goes any higher. Dual carriageway and motorway speeds it sits on the first quarter on the gauge. Its annoying because the bike runs lovely although not quite as quick as i thought it would be. Power wheelies on throttle alone in 2nd gear; not a chance. I'm not trying to do power wheelies of course but many people have said its easy on the Storm on torque alone but its nowhere near.

It sounds the same now as it did before the CCT's were changed except the chain doesn't rattle on over run.

On standard gearing, with dynojet kit and free flowing std exhausts, mine will not power wheelie in 2nd. It will in 1st, but that is too abrupt, so I tend to use 2nd and a dip of clutch at 4000rpm for nice smooth and long wheelies.

Only when there is a nice crest in the road will it come up on power alone above 1st.

Could be that I am crap at wheelies though, but the point is that I doubt your bike is down on power just because you cant get a 2nd gear power wheelie either.

I rolled the bike out of the garage this time, so hopefully it might be a bit clearer. The noise is definatly loudest around the clutch basket area, what else is in there that could cause such a racket? Is the oil pump chain housed in there?

And that doesn't change when you pull the clutch in? I'll listen to mine tomorrow and compare.

Did you check the valve clearances? Maybe need re-shimming?

Mine doesn't make that sort of noise, I knew it sounded different when the clutch was pulled in but it's more of a whirring noise than a rattle or knock.
