That's the one, i was just about the suggest the gearing commander website.

It has the stock setting in there and you can fiddle with custom set ups to see the difference.

I've always wondered though, i would of thought with an engine with some much torque as opposed to power that it would benefit more from taking a tooth off the rear to take advantage of the bottom and midrange grunt rather then adding teeth to the rear. The VTR engine isn't really a "rev your guts out" type of engine imo.

Actually a mate of mine has a 99 model and his can clear 100km/h in first, where as the gearing commander says it hits 90 at the red line. His actually felt pretty swift, but i haven't had a chance to compare his and mine yet at the same time. I'll have to count his rear teeth. He says according to the speedo he's had it up to 270km/h but i've read numerous times its top speed is no where near that, so it makes me think even more that the gearing has been changed.

I swear once upon a time it did, but i can't see it now ?

either way, if you do some mathemagics and work it out (stock speed - custom speed)/Stock speed
and multiply by 100 you'll get the percentage error.

For some reason it varies along the RPM range for reasons unknown to me (4.4 -> 4.6 %).

BUT if you don't trust the graph, you can always work out the ratio of your new gearing to your stock gearing and subtract that from 1 (IE 1- [(16/43)/(16/41)] = 4.6%)

Considering the difference between 5% and 4.6% at say 150km/hr would be just over half a Km/hr and the analog speedo on the VTR is so bloody tightly packed ( on 2001 onwards at least anyway) I reckon its pretty safe to just call it %5 :)

Your best bet is to check it with a sat nav as a mate of mine did.

Even with a 2 tooth up on the back, at 30/40mph its close enough for jazz as you are unlikely to be going faster than that. When the clock reads 3 figure speeds I don't want to know what it really is as a) It will definately be illegal anyway and b) I can kid myself I'm going really really fast
