I'm interested in doing this too. My SV was done by the previous owners and the wheels look ace.

If i can get mine like yours mike ill be well chuffed!!
How do you get a clean edge on the paint? I was thinking polish them up to a point then powder coat then mirror finish.

Does the paint stripper get it all off or does it take quite a while?

Polished alloy looks amazing, but you need to keep on top of it, otherwise it corrodes badly. If you use your bike all year round IMHO you will be better off getting the bare polished alloy lacquered, but this does take away some of the brilliant sheen.

Some on here can probably recommend an alloy polish that will help to keep corrosion to the minimum if you decide not to lacquer them.

Ive been looking into this quite a bit and there seems to be quite a lot of problems with powder coating part of the wheel and trying to polish the rims, generally can be done but is very expensive with variable results. Most powder coaters Ive spoken to actually wouldnt do it, advising me that the laquer would chip and corrosion under laquer is worse. Best advise seems to be either completely powder coat the whole wheel your desired colour, no laquer - shouldnt need it, or have the centres painted and then spend ages polishing as above. If you are keen you can have great looking polished wheels. The original surface AFAIK was actually machined in the factory to the polished finish .. cant do that too many times !
If you want to spend more money there is supposed to be a company in England somewhere that will take your PC wheels and strip off the coating on the rims, polish then laquer just the rims. Problem is the overlap area.
Im in the same dilemma so would be interested in any other ideas / experiences ..
